9.2. Network Discovery SettingsΒΆ
Motadata uses the discovery settings to connect with your network. It uses two types of discovery profiles: Network Discovery Profile and EMS Discovery Profile.
Network Discovery Profile
Motadata stores the device information in network discovery profiles and device credentials in the credential profile. Network discovery profiles are used to identify the devices in your network. A credential profile is used to validate the credentials of the device. When Motadata successfully discovers the devices, it asks you to provision them. With device provisioning, you select only those devices that you want to see in the Motadata. Based on the device type, a default template is assigned to the provisioned devices. The provisioned devices also consumes the license.
The flow is a 3 step process that allows Motadata to discover devices and fetch information from them:
- You create credential profiles and device discovery profiles
- Motadata discovers the device in network
- You provisions the device
Motadata communicates with different types of devices and each device type has its own requirement. Requirements at device side are considered as prerequisites. Requirements at Motadata side will be covered as configuration steps.
EMS Discovery Profile
With Element Management System (EMS) Discovery Profile, Motadata fetch the information to connect and communicate with EMS devices. For each EMS, an individual EMS profile is required. By communicating with EMS, MOM gets the information of connected ONT and OLT devices.
